What Is Breakdancing?

A street based dance which features complex movements of the body including aesthetics, style and coordination is known as breakdance or breaking. This style of dancing is done by people known as either b-boys or b-girls.

The Beginnings Of Breakdance

Breakdance is thought to have its beginnings in the 1970s in Bronx, New York and is the oldest known style of hip-hop dancing. Inspirations of the sonic kind date back to the time of funk maestro James Brown whose performances were highly energetic. In the early days of b-boying, emceeing and dj-ing, a break – instrumental portion of a song was looped repeatedly by the DJ – and was incorporated into songs to permit a platform of creative steps of the breakdance.
